Background of the Group

Hong Kong Wing Wah Cake Shop began in 1950 as a tea house in Yuen Long. Today, it has become a restaurant group that has its own fully-equipped manufacturing plant and retail stores across Hong Kong, Kowloon and the New Territories.

In the 1960s, Hong Kong Wing Wah applied itself to the development of its cake manufacturing business. It was reorganised into a limited company and set up its first manufacturing plant in Hong Kong. Automated production equipment was introduced for continuous enhancement on the quality of products. In the 70s, Hong Kong Wing Wah started to expand the business by opening its retail stores across Hong Kong, Kowloon and the New Territories. Besides the local market, it started selling mooncakes to over 100 major countries and cities, such as Mainland, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia, exploring the international market. In the 80s, Hong Kong Wing Wah made its way into the mainland market. After all these years, Hong Kong Wing Wah Cake Shop has diligently shared traditional Chinese food to the world through its Wing Wah Mooncake. As long as there are Chinese people around, there would be a Hong Kong Yuen Long Wing Wah Mooncake.

In the late 90s, Hong Kong Wing Wah became the first Chinese cake shop to set foot in the Hong Kong International Airport. Based in Hong Kong, yet with a global vision, it is aspired to promote the remarkable Chinese and Hong Kong food culture to the whole world.

Wing Wah Restaurant remains one of the Group’s major business areas. The two restaurants, managed by Mr. Leung Man-to, are located in Yuen Long and Wan Chai, seeking to promote traditional walled village cuisines and bring in new trends to the eating culture.

Hong Kong Wing Wah is always faithful to its fine tradition of quality ingredients and sincere service. Quality always comes first, so customers can ‘buy and eat, without worries.’
